Ever-increasing traffic volumes, vehicle sizes, and increasingly serious overloading, together with traffic channelization, impose ever increasing quality requirements on road pavings. Xinjiang's harsh climate, featuring great temperature differences and strong ultraviolet rays, provides a suitable test environment for research on ready-to-use modifiers for new-generation high-performance asphalt paving mixtures, and on use of recycling plastics (waste mulching films, drip tubes and plastic pipes) as partial substitutes for raw materials during production, as well as for performance verification tests and evaluation of high-performance asphalt mixtures.
