With approval and support of the Ministry of Transport and project number 2015 318 J39 250 utilizes the collaborative innovation platform led by XCCG. Development of this project has involved the joint efforts of 24 colleges, universities and enterprises, such as Harbin Institute of Technology, Chengdu University of Technology and Southeast University and is targeted at key technology in the rapid construction of cement stabilized base courses in highway asphalt pavings in cold highland areas. Water stabilization and asphalt paving rapid construction methods involve the elimination or shortening of the base course curing period, and consist of covering the base course with an asphalt layer before it has hardened, using rolling to embed the asphalt mixture into the base course to certain depth, and forming a region of continuous and close contact between the base course and the surface course. Itthus not only shortens construction periods, but also increases the strength of bonding between the base and surface courses, preventing displacement and deformation of asphalt surface courses, especially on the mountainous roads, and preventing the adverse effect of rainwater on base courses during construction in rainy seasons. In addition it avoids alternation of wetting and drying necessitated by watering for curing, reduces construction links, saves curing costs, eliminates many other disadvantages that result from conventional curing, and speeds up construction shortening construction periods. It can thus bring about significant economic and social benefits.
